BACKGROUND
A few years ago, Hostinger decided to create a custom build control panel to help customer manage their Hostinger services named hPanel. A new team consist of developer, designer, QA, and product owner was built to realize this vision. Long story short, hPanel was established and works incredibly helpful for customer since 2019. Now, the team is gradually expanding to improve hPanel by hiring more talent and providing more services. Design inconsistency that causes an inconvenient experience appears as the latest problem for stakeholders & user. The design system is a needs to maintain consistency, make the process more efficient, and deliver the best experience.

PROCESS
Since the team has already built the foundation of hPanel, the process starts with auditing the production-live view and redefined the style & the component. We did regular discussions & reviews among the hPanel team to solve each problem. We’re gradually expand the design system and dig deeper on brand guideline, accessibility & interaction for each component. At the end, we documenting all the specificfication, function, type, and rule to be on the samepage.

CONCLUSION
The design system is an important tools for product team to elevate the consistency, efficiency, and quality of work. This tools is never ending project and always need to be improve gradually. As it called a system, it’s really need a collaboration and dedicated team to maintained the system. So, that can be relevan for all the design cases in terms of solving a problem.
